The health of police officers and those who use the Oistins Police Station is under threat.

SATURDAY SUN investigations have revealed that the Ministry of Health has given the police precinct two weeks to clean its environs after mould was found in its air-conditioning units and water tanks.

In a letter dated October 4, 2017, from the ministry, and which was copied to Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith, it gave the relevant authorities 14 days to clean and service the AC units, clean all offices and rooms in the police station, maintain the AC units and empty, clean and sanitise water source tanks.

When contacted, Griffith said he had not yet been apprised of the development and directed all questions to Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Erwin Boyce.

Numerous efforts to reach Principal Environmental Health Officer at the Randall Phillips Polyclinic, John Watts, for comment, proved unsuccessful. (RB)
