Guests celebrating Brazil’s 195th anniversary of independence were treated to a piano recital by celebrated Brazilian pianist Pablo Rossi recently.
Brazil’s ambassador to Barbados, Luiz Gilberto de Andrade and his wife Edda Mertz were hosts of the concert at the Walcott Warner Theatre at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination where Rossi treated an audience of diplomats, parliamentarians, Brazilians living in Barbados and other music lovers to over one hour of his mastery of the keyboard.
Acting Governor General Sir Philip Greaves was the guest of honour, while Minister of Foreign Affairs Senator Maxine McClean and other key officers in her ministry were also there representing Barbados with which de Andrade said Brazil enjoyed a longstanding relationship.
They were treated to selections from the great composers such as Schubert, Liszt, Chopin and Mozart. (GC)
