Some Bridgetown residents and business people are so concerned about the unpleasant sight and scent of garbage pile-ups in The City, they fear it is diminishing the capital’s historic status.
Most with whom the DAILY NATION spoke said the garbage piles created a stigma that made Barbadians associate Bridgetown with dirtiness.
A Queen Street resident who identified himself as Mr Greene, said City residents were mostly responsible for the garbage. He said some did not even understand the principles of cleanliness.
“The garbage out here is an eyesore. Sometimes some of the neighbours and I try to keep the area clean but it doesn’t stay that way for long,” he said. (SB)
