Fed up and frustrated with local ‘‘red-tape’’, a United States charity has decided not to make any more donations to Barbados.

Julia Robinson, founder of Robinson Smiles and Hope Inc., made the decision following the disappearance of a box of school supplies valued at US$3 000 from the Bridgetown Port.

An irate Robinson told the WEEKEND NATION she had shipped two boxes of supplies weighing over 500lbs and valued more than US$5 000 in September.

The contents, which include binders, backpacks, books, pencils and pens, were supposed to be distributed among six schools, as well as less fortunate individuals.

“She got the broker and has been going to the Port for the past week and they cannot find my box of school supplies. It’s not a small box; it has over 300 pounds of school supplies,” she said. (RB)
