If Veronica Wiggins did not experience the following scenario herself, she would scarcely believe it.

The Newcastle, St John resident told the WEEKEND NATION a bizarre tale of a man attempting to break into her home on Friday evening, returning the next day offering to pay for the damage and ultimately turning himself in at the police station.

Wiggins was not home for either visit but her 29-year-old daughter, who did not wish to go on record, was the one who recorded the man trying to break in.

“I was on the way to collect the children from school. She called me and asked if someone was there, as I have a guy that cuts bush for me. She was whispering how someone was at the door, so I called the [maintenance] guy and he said he wasn’t there. I called her back and she told me someone was trying to get in and she was recording him,” she said. (CA)
