Bajans stuck in Miami

About 35 Barbadians have been left stranded in Miami, Florida, after they were unable to pick up their cruise from the international hub on Saturday.

A concerned relative of one of the passengers, who asked to remain anonymous, contacted the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday to relay what she described as a horrifying experience for her aunt and the other passengers, including an 88-year-old and a few children.

The niece said the passengers had gone through an independent travel agent for what was supposed to have been a week-long cruise.

“I don’t think she works at an agency. What they were doing is that they were paying her money every month for the cruise. This is not the first time they have travelled with her, and there was never a problem before. All the cruises usually leave from Barbados, but this one was leaving from Miami. They paid around US$2 400 [BDS$4 800] each, which included hotel accommodation and airfare,” she said. (RA)
