The problem-plagued South Coast Sewerage plant has claimed a major casualty.
Popular restaurant Chicken Barn officially closed its branch at Worthing, Christ Church, yesterday after battling with the problem of raw sewage flooding its compound for over a year.
The 12 employees were informed of the development by management at a meeting yesterday and director Paul Hynam told the SUNDAY SUN the branch could no longer remain open under the circumstances.
“It has reached the point where we have to close the restaurant because we can’t continue doing this. It is not fair to our staff, it is not fair to our customers, it is becoming a health issue,” said a frustrated Hynam.
He said they would try to accommodate the employees in the other branches “as best we can until the end of Christmas”. (MB)
