Occupancy up for luxury properties

After a disappointing performance in 2016, Barbados’ small luxury brand hotels are fighting back.

The performance by those hotels, most of them on the prestigious platinum West Coast, was flat last year, but a targeted approach seems to be paying off in the early part of the 2017 winter season.

“We expect our performance will be better than it was last year for sure,” chief executive officer of the Barbados Hotel& Tourism Association (BHTA), Rudy Grant told the SUNDAY SUN.

“The early survey has shown about a three per cent increase in occupancy for the winter season so far in that sector. This is good news, since last year in the winter season the performance by those luxury brands was flat. There had been no increase from 2015. (BA)
