Barbados once again copped the majority of awards at the recently concluded three-day International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) national competition.

Participants from Canada, Jamaica, Guyana, Grenada, and host country Barbados descended on the Barbados Rifle Association for the competition.

In the production division, Rodney Clarke just edged out Canadian Evgueni Koulechov, taking the top spot with 985 points, earning him yet another President’s Medal in this division. Koulechov finished on 981 points, and third place went to Adrian Marshall with 966 points.

The open division was very competitive. Sean Banfield defeated Kevin “The Enforcer” Grant to take first place with 1 045 points, and also earned himself the President’s Medal in the open division. Grant finished on 997 points, while Guyanese Harold Hopkinson ended on 691 for third place.

Competitors in the standard division battled hard against the grandmaster from Jamaica. However, they were no match and Ronald “Dragon” Browne took the top spot with 1 059 points. Richard Durant slid into second spot on 844 points, and Stephen Niles was third on 745 points.

New shooters also received their black badge certificates during the event. This certificate allows people to compete in IPSC anywhere in the world, and proves that the person is competent in firearm handling while using it in practical application. (RA)
