Student loan debtors warned

The Student Revolving Loan Fund (SRLF) has been making record disbursements in recent years, but it will not turn a blind eye to defaulters.

That warning came from Minister of Education Ronald Jones as he delivered the feature address at its 40th anniversary awards dinner, held at Sandals Barbados on Saturday night.

“I am cognisant that the life of this important institution is, and has always been, contingent upon the ability and willingness of its beneficiaries to repay their loans. It should be noted that the Student Revolving Loan Fund will not [shirk] in its responsibility to make sure that it collects what is owed.

“As indicated in its name, the Student Revolving Loan Fund was created to be a revolving entity. This means that the funds borrowed must not only be repaid but must be repaid in a timely manner to ensure resources are available to other would-be borrowers,” Jones stated. (YB)
