Some supermarkets are cutting back on the price of hams this Christmas after a public outcry over cost hikes blamed on recent tax increases.
Earlier in the month, some popular picnic hams were being sold for between $70 and $100, based on size, with premier pieces going for nearly $30 per kilogramme.
However, in the wake of the public backlash, a slew of specials was on offer at supermarkets over the weekend.
Massy Supermarkets lowered their price per kilogramme to $25.99 from Friday through Sunday, and some lucky shoppers scored the Yuletide favourite for less than $50. (SAT)
