Come next November, several Caribbean countries will be lining up to make big bucks from hosting the championship match in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20.
Barbados may not be one of them. That’s because Government has not given the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) the much-needed guarantees in order for Barbados to host the final of next year’s tournament.
Reacting to Government’s non-response, BCA president Conde Riley told the MIDWEEK NATION the island was set to miss out on raking in tens of millions of dollars as a result of not receiving Government’s blessings.
He explained that the guarantees in question included US$75 000 pledges to host the final, as well as visa waivers for players and members of the travelling teams. (AD)
