Close contests were the order of the day in the National Sports Council/Youth Development Programme Community Under-17 Football Tournament on Saturday.

The seven matches at the three venues either produced draws or victories by a one-goal margin.

At Speightstown, St James North defeated St Lucy 1-0 with a strike from Romario Drakes, while St Andrew won 2-1 against St James Central through goals from Che Jordan and Jafari Marshall.

Over at Dover, St George South beat Christ Church West 2-1 with goals by Jaheim Headley and Shaquan Clarke, while Christ Church South and Christ Church West Central played to a 1-1 draw.

Only one goal came in a triple header at Deacons where St Michael West Central edged St Michael North 1-0. The other games between St Michael Central and St Michael West and St Michael North West and St Michael North East ended in goalless draws. (HG)
