Day of fun for the family

Boxing Day was one of fun and relaxation for many Barbadians, a wind-down from the hectic Christmas celebrations.

Cynthia Clarke, who was eating lunch with her family at Pebbles beach, Aquatic Gap, St Michael, said this had been their tradition for more than five years. Many members of the family worked and were only available on Boxing Day.

“We do this every year,” she said, “Sometimes I get the family together and we take a Caribbean cruise.

“I really enjoy the time we spend together because we don’t see one another during the course of the year. So when all the cousins, sisters, children and in-laws meet, it is a very special occasion,” she said.

Evadney Thorne, who was splashing up water with her daughter Carolyn and friends, said going to the beach on Boxing Day was becoming a tradition for her and her boyfriend’s family. Every year, the group goes to a different beach. Last year they went to Browne’s Beach. (SB)
