“Andrew, you need to stop it!” Those stern words have come from Minister of International Business Donville Inniss in response to recent comments by managing director of A1 Supermarkets, Andrew Bynoe.

In an interview with the WEEKEND NATION Thursday, Bynoe warned shoppers to expect an increase in food prices due to a rise in the United States Domestic Fuel Surcharge (USDFS).

However, speaking to the SATURDAY SUN, Inniss said that having done some research and spoken to several importers and brokers in Barbados, he believed Bynoe was being an “alarmist” and accused him of “playing politics” and trying to create panic.

“I can conclude that unless Andrew Bynoe is able to provide evidence to the contrary, his public comments on the matter are grossly misleading and I can only conclude are designed to create alarm in this country and panic.

“Andrew, stop playing politics and start taking the interest of your consumers at heart,” Inniss stated. (RB)
