Man pleads guilty to five offences, faces nine other charges

Jabari Michael Hurley, 32, of Block 12K Farm Road, Deacons Farm, St Michael, appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court, and Traffic Court today. 

He was arrested and charged with a number of drug and traffic related offences, which were allegedly committed on Wednesday, January 31 along Goodland Main Road, St Michael.

Hurley appeared before Magistrate Graveney Bannister in the Traffic Court where he pleaded guilty to the traffic offences.

He was fined:

• $200 forthwith, or 20 days in prison for the offence of no driver’s license

• $750 forthwith or 75 days in prison for no third party insurance

• $475 forthwith or 47 days in prison for no road taxes

• Convicted, reprimanded and discharged (CRD) for failing to register a vehicle

• Convicted, reprimanded and discharged (CRD) for fraudulent use of number plates. 

The fines were not paid.

Hurley also appeared before Magistrate Douglas Fredericks in relation to the criminal charges, and was remanded to prison, to reappear in Court on the March 5.

He was charged with: 

• Unlawful possession of cannabis

• Unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to supply

• Trafficking of cannabis

• Forged road tax disc

• Fraudulent use of registration plates

• No third-party insurance

• No road tax

• Failing to register a vehicle

• No driver’s license (PR)
