Blue House Falcons had only one divisional winner in Tristan Rice, but displayed their all-round depth to win a fourth consecutive title when Graydon Sealy held their sports at the National Stadium, yesterday.
The Falcons amassed 883 to finish well clear of second placed Green (722) and third placed Orange (636). Red (539), Yellow (423) and White (379) were fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
Rice was the Under-15 boys’ champion with 65.5 points after winning the long jump and 800, but had to settle for second to Orange’s Isaac Lawrence in the 100 (12.54) and Green’s Fabian Gollop, who took the 400 (1:01.83). Lawrence also completed the sprint double by winning the 200 (26.13).
Yellow’s Victoria Clarke sped to victories in the Under-15 girls’ 100 (14.34), 200 (29.01) and 400 (1.10.88) with Orange’s divisional queen Ariel Baird, the long jump and shot put winner, settling for second position in each race.
National Under-16 netball trialist, Shonica Griffith of White house was the victrix ludorum after gaining 71 points in the Under-17 division.
Prior to yesterday, she had won the long jump, 800, 1500 and 3 000 and added the 400 (1:08.66) to her triumphs with Green’s Christina Scotland second. Griffith also finished second in the 200 metres, won by Green’s Shaqola Applewhaite in 28.92 seconds. House mate Nikayla Nicholls sped home first in the 100 in 14.17 seconds.
The victor ludorum was Red’s Jadon McCollin, who swept the 100 (11.32), 200 (24.15) and 400 (54.32) among the Under-20 boys. He also captured the 800, 1500 and triple jump en route to 73 points.
Yellow’s Kayla Walters was the top Under-20 girl, winning the 100 (13.06), 200 (27.30) and 400 (54.32) yesterday from Blue’s Rianna Clarke. Walters also took the 800 metres before sports day. Â
Orange’s Renaldo Simmons motored to victories in the Under-17 boys’ 100 (11.76) and 200 (23.62) but Red’s Geoffrey Mapp II, who was second in 200, won the 400 in 54.73 seconds.
Mapp later teamed up with Raquan Bispham, Veron Ifill and Under-17 champion, Makail Gittens to win their 4×100-metre relay. Red also won the open 4×400 relay with McCollin on the anchor leg.
Red’s Danika Applewhaite swept the Under-13 girls’ 100 (15.37), 200 (32.50) and 400 (1:19.19) while Under-13 boys’ champion Donte Padmore of Orange achieved the sprint, taking the 100 (13.93) and 200 (28.93). Green’s Jevonte Thorne (1:12.68) prevailed in the 400.
