TC delivers before rain stops play

The rains once again disrupted the card in the highly popular Silver Hill Road Tennis Tournament on Thursday night but not before “A” class player Kerry “TC” Francis carved up two pigs against a lesser opponent.

Competing in the Men’s Open, Francis easily dismissed Shane Dorson 21-8, 21-8. Dorson never challenged as he scored his first point when Francis had reached 13. It was only a relaxation from Francis which allowed the heavyset Dorson to reached eight points in both games.

Earlier, Merlon Edwards ensured that the night would produce two victories for the North as he defeated Wayne Jones 21-12, 14-21, 21-12. After losing the first game, Jones rebounded well with a number of impressive counter shots.  However, exhaustion and a determined Edwards saw the win blowing to St Lucy.

The rains then ended the night’s action in the “A” Class. Four matches were completed in the In House section. Adrian “Howlie” Walker bullied off Barbados hockey player Neil Franklyn 21-18, 24-22. In an all Sargeant’s Village clash, Ezekiel “Ezee” Ward sliced up Romell “Cut-Lee” Forde 21-16, 21-12.

The battle between former Barbados footballer Wayne “Bull” Lewis and Karyan Jordan was a closer affair with Lewis taking the match 21-18, 19-21, 21-17.  Teenager Nicolas “Nik-Nik” Ellis found little opposition in dismissing Anderson Griffith 21-15, 21-9.

The competition continues tonight with a full slate of in house and open fixtures. The temperature is expected to soar with the likes of Victor “Earth” Ward, the stylish Aaron Barker and “B” Class island wide champion Gary “Kojak” Thomas joining the fray. (KB)
