People from diverse faiths and professions were seen mingling and chatting in the foyer of the Frank Collymore Hall last week after hearing Sir Trevor Carmichael deliver the Inaugural Dean’s Lecture for The St Michael Centre for Faith and Action.

Sir Trevor is patron of the recently formed registered charity, whose mission is to “engage the nation on issues of public interest with an emphasis on the integration of faith and action.” It is a ministry of the Cathedral Church of St Michael and All Angels.

In the comprehensive presentation, Sir Trevor traced the Anglican Church’s contribution to the development of schools in Barbados and to education in the island generally. He also outlined the Centre’s plans for the advancement of public education and religion, the promotion of purposes beneficial to the community and for the relief of poverty through charitable initiatives.

Among those seen engaged in discussion afterwards were visiting Anglican bishops from Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and the Turks and Caicos Islands; Sir Paul Altman; and Sabir Nakhuda. (GC)
