CROP OVER is in the air and the big tunes from years past made Love, Poetry And Song “sweet fuh days” on Saturday night.
The cool breeze at the Drill Hall Shooting Range at the Barbados Defence Force’s headquarters caused many patrons to huddle into the blankets and chairs at intervals, but the fully Bajan cast put together by the Barbados Government Information Service to raise funds for the HIV/AIDS Food Bank, warmed the hearts and bodies all at once.
Whether it was spoken word, dance, ballads, reggae or some other genre, each performer left a powerful imprint on members of the audience, but at the end of the night soca was king.
The appearance of Cultural Ambassador Stedson Red Plastic Bag Wiltshire, who was the third last act of the night, brought many to their feet to dance. The temperature continued to rise and people partied with total abandon for Biggie Irie, MRBLOOD and then Mikey. (YB)
