It took four long years, but Dalton House (Yellow) have finally been defeated.

And Armstrong (Blue) was the one to bring a halt to their winning streak to capture the title during the Harrison College Inter-house Athletic Championships at the school yesterday.

The new champions were spearheaded by senior victor ludorum Yannick Burrowes, Division 1 girls champion Kara Douglas and Division 2 Boys leader Aren Spencer. Blue amassed 1 526.5 points, more than 100 points clear of former champions Yellow, who tallied with 1 402.

Deighton (Red) was third with 1 116 and Collymore (Green) a distant fourth with 973.5 points.

Douglas was the class of the Division 1 girls competition, making a sweep of the 100 (12.86 secs), 200 (26.57) and 400 (62.21 secs).

Burrowes competed in numerous events and was named victor ludorum when he gathered 85.5 points in the Under-20 Boys division.

During yesterday’s competition, he completed a full lap around the field to cross the finish line first in the 400 metres in a time of 56.76 seconds and placed second in 200 metres in 24.07 seconds.

He also succeeded at the winning leap in the long jump event but was third in the high jump and finished with a total of 83 points.

Yellow’s Tia Hinds, who was especially in the strong field events, took the senior victrix ludorum title with 83 points. She cleared the bar to win the Under-17 Girls’ high jump event, made the farthest leap to win the triple jump and dominated the hurdles event winning both the 100 and 300 metres hurdles.

Hinds also took silver in the 100 metres in 13.70 seconds and the 200 metres in 29.64 seconds long jump and shot put events.

She was also third in the long jump and 200 metres in a time of 31.45 seconds which she lost to Amani Kirnon of Deighton who clocked a winning time of 29.37 seconds.
