UPDATE: Pride up against Kent in semi-final

ST JOHN’S – Kent, chasing a revised target of 259 in 48 overs after a couple of stoppages for rain, were 92 for three in 22 overs against Barbados Pride in their day-night semi-final in the Regional Super50 Festival at Coolidge here Wednesday.

The English county lost the wickets of openers Zak Crawley and the aggressive Daniel Bell-Drummond for five and 23 respectively to left-arm pacer Dominic Drakes, who has two for 28 off six overs.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite captured the third wicket when he bowled Alex Blake for six. The not out batsmen are Sean Dickson on 32 and Adam Rouse on 14.

Earlier, Barbados scored 262 for three in their 50 overs with Brathwaite leading the way with an unbeaten 105 off 136 balls. He hit eight fours and two sixes.

Roston Chase sustained his rich vein of form with a knock of 81 off 73 balls, studded with nine fours and two sixes while left-handed opener Omar Phillips also hit a career-best 62 off 70 balls with ten fours.

Off-spinner Adam Riley, left-arm spinner Imran Qayyum and seamer Grant Stewart, took one wicket each for 34, 40 and 53 runs respectively.

Young left-arm pacer Dominic Drakes grabbed two early wickets for Barbados Pride to stall Kent’s victory chase in their day-night semi-final in the Regional Super50 Festival at Coolidge here Wednesday.

Set a revised target of 259 in 48 overs after there were a couple of stoppages for rain, Kent reached 50 for two after ten overs.

The English county lost the wickets of openers Zak Crawley and the aggressive Daniel Bell-Drummond for five and 23 respectively to Drakes, who has two for 23 off five overs.

Earlier, Barbados had scored 262 for three in their 50 overs with captain Kraigg Brathwaite lead the way with an unbeaten 105 off 136 balls.

Defending champions Barbados Pride made 263 for three in their 50 overs after winning the toss and batting in their day-night semi-final against English county, Kent in the Regional Super50 Festival at Coolidge here Wednesday.

It means Kent will have to make a challenging 264 runs for victory and a place in Saturday’s final.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite led the way with a third List A century as he finished on an unbeaten 105 off 137 balls while Roston Chase sustained his rich vein of form with a knock of 81 off 74 balls to carry his tournament aggregate to 514 runs.

Brathwaite ended a lean streak of low scores to hit eight fours and two sixes in his responsible knock while the enterprising Chase smashed nine fours and two sixes as they added 144 runs for the third wicket. 

Left-handed opener Omar Phillips also hit a career-best 62 off 70 balls with ten fours. Jonathan Carter was the only batsman who didn’t get going, falling for four off 21 balls.

Off-spinner Adam Riley, left-arm spinner Imran Qayyum and seamer Grant Stewart took one wicket each for 34, 40 and 53 runs respectively in their ten allotted overs for Kent.

Barbados Pride were 148 for two in 36 overs at the second water break after winning the toss and batting in their day-night semi-final against English county, Kent in the Regional Super50 Festival at Coolidge here Wednesday.

The not out batsmen are captain Kraigg Brathwaite on 57 and Roston Chase on 20.

Left-handed opener Omar Phillips was the first wicket to fall for 62 and he was followed by Jonathan Carter for four.

At the first water break Barbados Pride were 67 without loss in 17 overs after winning the toss and batting in their day-night semi-final against English county, Kent in the Regional Super50 Festival at Coolidge Ground here Wednesday.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite was not out 25 and fellow opener Omar Phillips was on 39.

Experienced all-rounder Kevin Stoute has replaced teenage left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop in the Barbados starting line-up.

The other two players omitted from the squad are fast bowler Keon Harding and batsman Aaron Jones.

Experienced all-rounder Kevin Stoute has been recalled to the team, replacing teenage left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop.

The other two players omitted from the starting 11 are fast bowler Keon Harding and batsman Aaron Jones.

Barbados Pride were 18 without loss after 5.2 overs when rain briefly stopped play with captain Kraigg Brathwaite not out five and Omar Phillips and 13.
