VETERAN Denzil Hall is celebrating as overall champion of the 2018 Seniors Golf Open Tournament at the Barbados Golf Club.

A tournament reserved for players 50 years and over, Hall dominated over 36 holes while posting 82 Stableford points in the two-day event which was played last week.

The consistent Hall was a clear winner in the Super Seniors category (60 years and over) before being adjudged the best overall player in the four categories of competition.

While Hall was distinguishing himself among the super seniors, accountant Gordon Walker managed to stave off a serious late surge from the big-hitting Charles Cox in the 12-And-Under Handicap division.

After two competitive rounds, both players were tied in the division with 75 stableford points, but Walker emerged winner on the count-back system as he recorded a superior final nine holes, scoring 19 points to Cox’s 17.

Among the women, Zerina Belgrave topped that division with 75 points over 36 holes and was followed by Allison Rimple, who registered 72 points.

Eamon Kearney won the Men’s 13-And-Over Handicap category with 80 points, while Peter Hennessy was two points back on 78. Forty-two players  contested the two-day tournament.

Some of the other prize winners were Graham Woods (Longest Drive on Day 2); Harry Watkins (Closest To Pin on Day 1); Helen Foster (Women’s Closest To Pin on Day 1); Manni Newell (Women’s Closest To Pin on Day 2) ; Mac Lampkin (Men’s Closest To Pin on Day 2); Allison Rimple (Women’s Longest Drive on Day 1) and Charles Cox (Longest Drive on Day 1).
