Organisers of the FLOW Oistins Fish Festival today announced a slew of new events for this year’s event.

Among the new events announced at this morning’s launch in the Oistins Bay Garden by funding and partner relations coordinator Alex McDonald were historical walks and a graveyard tour of the nearby Christ Church Parish Church cemetery; the Great Oistins Boat Race, a workshop on boat care, and the Great Oistins Egg and Spoon Race. There will also be Fitness in the Bay and the Strong Man boat pull.

The annual festival, which is held in the southern fishing town of Oistins, Christ Church, will once again take centre stage over the Easter weekend from March 30 to April 2.

In addition to the usual fare, foodies can look forward to cooking and mixology demonstrations – including cooking with lionfish – and the Great Oistins Tea Party which will be held on Easter Sunday in the carpark behind Grannies.

The Floodlit Tattoo, the popular dolphin skinning and fish boning competitions, the must-see greasy pole, treasure hunt, gospel night and annual Harold Bernard St John Lecture are also back on the programme, providing a range of activities for the whole family.

McDonald said all of this was made possible by strong private sector support.

Title sponsor FLOW renewed its commitment to the festival for the sixth year to the tune of $25 000 as announced by Marilyn Sealy, director of communications and stakeholder management, FLOW Barbados. (SAT)
