Members of the public are advised that all regular business will resume at the Supreme Court Complex, White Park Road, St Michael, from Monday, April 23. However, they will have new hours of operation.
Registrar of the Supreme Court, Barbara Cooke-Alleyne, said the Records Department, the Probate along with the courts, will operate daily from 9 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., until further notice.
During a press conference this morning, she said this decision followed concerns expressed by staff about meeting the needs of the public. “They have agreed to come back into the building to work for shorter hours to satisfy the public’s needs,” she stated.
Cooke-Alleyne also noted that Criminal Court No. 5, the Court of Appeal and matters being heard before Justice Sonia Richards, will be heard on Monday, April 23, while all other courts will continue operating from Tuesday, April 24.
However, the Registrar noted that plans to relocate to the CLICO building were still on the cards, and the courts and offices would be closed for a four-day period to allow sufficient time for staff to pack.
She added that more details on that relocation would be made available as they come to hand.
The Supreme Court is expected to undergo a general cleaning in the wake of environmental concerns being raised by staff. (BGIS)
