An explosive century by West Indies batsman Shai Hope propelled ESA Field Pickwick to victory over Christ Church Foundation by seven runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method in the second round of matches in the Barbados Cricket Association’s Sagicor Twenty20 competition yesterday.

In response to Pickwick’s 190 for three off 20 overs after they were invited to bat, Foundation reached 38 without loss in six overs before rain brought a premature end to the contest in the first game of a double-header.

Hope struck seven sixes and ten fours in an innings of 104 off 64 balls. He reached his century off 62 balls and shared a partnership of 107 for the third wicket with Rohan Ryan.

His array of sixes included a flick over midwicket off pacer Jaden Edmund. In one over bowled by off-spinner Amory Holder, he struck a six over midwicket, worked him sweetly off the pads to the square-leg boundary and then launched him over forward square for another six.

Ryan who initially played the supporting role, struck seven sixes and one four in an unbeaten 42 off 24 balls.

Hope’s century followed his 64 against MTW the previous day and guided Pickwick to a second successive victory. (PH)
