A couple was placed on a bond to keep the peace for a year after the girlfriend said she wanted the case dismissed.
Dale Honley Rowe, 25, of Hallets Crescent, Brighton, Black Rock, St Michael, denied assaulting Shon-Lyn Callender last Sunday.
However, Callender took the witness stand in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court and said she no longer wished to pursue the matter.
“I am sorry for wasting the court’s time. We resolved the matter ourselves,” she told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant.
“Could you not have sat and resolved the matter before it got to this?” the magistrate asked.
“Yes, ma’am, but I was embarrassed and acted out of anger,” Callender replied.
“I am placing you both on a bond to behave. The police have a lot of work to do. You all are adults. Next time, sit and discuss the matter before it gets to this,” the magistrate warned.
Rowe and Callender were both placed on a bond for 12 months. If breached they will have to pay $1 500 forthwith, or spend three months in prison. Additionally, the case against Rowe was dismissed. (RA)
