LET’S DO IT TOGETHER! Governor General Dame Sandra Mason yesterday called on all Barbadians to put their shoulders to the wheel to bring the island back to regional and international prominence.

She made the call in front of a packed Senate Chamber in an hour-long Throne Speech during the ceremonial opening of the third oldest Parliament in the Commonwealth.

The speech was made with Prime Minister Mia Mottley, her new Cabinet, MPs, the Opposition Leader and senators in the audience, along with a number of specially invited guests.

“Our forefathers had faith that the future of Barbados would be safe with us. Let us dream together, let us dare to surmount our challenges and let us, with firm resolve, do the work necessary to secure social, economic and environmental sustainability for ourselves and for the future for generations yet unborn,” Dame Sandra said in the nationally televised event.
