Motorists have to pay their outstanding road tax. And if they are among the 20 000 who still have unsettled road tax payments, Minister of Transport and Works Dr William Duguid has announced a special payment plan.
On Tuesday he sought to lay to rest the controversy surrounding the recently abolished road tax, while speaking at a press conference at Government Headquarters, Bay Street.
“The road tax continues to be due,” Duguid said. “We empathise with what people have been calling us and commenting on. We want to make it clear that after our meeting with the Minister of Finance, the Barbados Revenue Authority has a system in place where you can pay all taxes in instalments,” he said.
“And we’re extending that instalment payment to the due road tax as well. So going forward, if you have road taxes that are due, what you can do when you present to Licensing Authority, you can make arrangements to pay your due road tax in instalments.” (AD)
