Road taxes remain due and must be paid.

This is the word from Minister of Transport William Duguid as he was speaking at a press briefing earlier today, along with Acting Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw and Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn.

While sympathising with those people whose road taxes were due a few days shy of the July 1 change in legislation, he said that the Barbados Revenue Authority has a system where payments can be made in instalments.

Duguid clarified that his previous comments referencing not driving vehicles where taxes were due before July 1, was to ensure that people remained in accordance with the law.

The minister also disclosed plans for the future to make use of a sticker for the rear license plate to indicate payment of insurance. (NATIONNEWS)
