Police are continuing investigations into a reported major drug haul on the high seas.
Reliable sources told THE NATION that ganja with a market value of an estimated $3 million was found on board a yacht that arrived last night.
The source further noted that the sailing vessel was seized and officers of the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) detained the captain, crew and guests.
However, when contacted public relations officer of the RBPF, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss declined to verify the report, stating that investigations were at a sensitive stage.
“I cannot confirm that at this stage. I checked it out and police are still very much doing their investigation on that and we are not prepared to give out any information at all. It is a very sensitive stage of our investigation.
But Inniss did give the assurance that, “we will give out whatever information we can on that matter” at a later stage.
He added: “I know it is something you want to know about, but as soon as we are free to do so [we will]. But we can’t release anything at all because it would influence the outcome of the investigation.” (SDB Media)
