Next Wednesday, the 78th running of the Grade I Massy United Insurance Barbados Derby over 2 000 metres at the Garrison Savannah will have no fewer than five champion jockeys rubbing shoulders in the quest for local horse racing’s premier prize.

They are Rasheed Hughes on Whatyouthink, Rickey Walcott (Brave Star), Anderson Trotman (Tamarama) and the overseas-based Jalon Samuel (Gandalf) and Paul Leacock (Aquila).

Also making the trip from up north is Assiniboia Downs leading jockey Antonio “Swaga” Whitehall (Jackmannaygap).

This information was revealed Tuesday morning via a Press conference held at the Barbados Turf Club’s office to announce details for the Massy United Insurance Barbados Derby Raceday. (LY)
