MIAMI – Two Barbadian fishermen were rescued by the cruise liner Carnival Fascination on Wednesday night about 25 nautical miles from their homeland.

Officials from the Florida-based cruise ship said they responded to a distress signal from the fishing boat around 10 p.m. “The boat had run out of fuel and was adrift,” a statement from Carnival Cruise Line said.

The men, ages 43 and 51, were taken aboard Carnival Fascination, where “they received medical assistance, a hot meal and accommodation. They also had the opportunity to call their families,” the statement said. (PR)
