The Bajan swim pair of Luis Sebastian Weekes and Jack Kirby is hoping to splash its way to glory by delivering a first Youth Olympic medal for Barbados.

And while acknowledging the path won’t be an easy one, a huge level of confidence surrounds the Bajan camp ahead of the preliminary rounds.

“The boys are just trying to fine-tune things at this moment. We still have two more days before the start of competition and, talking to the boys, they seem confident. I don’t detect any nervousness at all,” said coach Aisha Norville

“They are relaxed. These boys have been to competitions like this before; this is nothing new to them. It would be great if we can medal, that would be the main goal, but we have to wait and see how they perform on competition day.

“I would like them to make finals and go from there. They are pretty seasoned and know what they have to do,” she added. – Anmar Goodridge-Boyce
