Nursing student receives Carson Small Scholarship

Nursing student Simone Kirton, is the recipient of a scholarship from the Carson Small Memorial Foundation, The Optimist Club and the Barbados Association of Texas.

Speaking at the presentation in Barbados Commmunity College’s conference room on Friday, President of the Foundation Yvette Graham said that the scholarship was presented on behalf of Carson Small a Caribbean Broadcaster. Graham highlighted that the recipient of the scholarship must use the opportunity to help just as Carson helped others.

The Registrar of the Barbados Community College, Roger Worrell, expressed his appreciation for the willingness of Carson Small Memorial Foundation and other organizations who continue to give opportunities to students despite the country’s economic challenges.

In congrauatling Simione, head of the college’s Nursing Department Dr Sonia Watson-Miller said that when they were deliberating for selection of the applicants they took in consideration the academics, as well as one who had the, displayed the professionalism of a seasoned nurse. 

Kirton thanked the Foundation for the opportunity and said that she is grateful to God for finally showing her true calling after being initially unsure of which career path she should take. (PR)
