A mid-morning cocktail reception is a rarity, but it was the time director of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture Manuel Otero could squeeze out of his hectic Barbados schedule last week, to socialise with local and regional leaders in agriculture.

Sotero was here participating in Caribbean Agriculture Week and Argentine ambassador Gustavo Martinez Pandiani seized the opportunity to host the morning affair that was also attended by some other diplomats.

Among those on the guest list were Barbados’ Minister of Agriculture Indar Weir, Argentina’s Undersecretary of Livestock Rodrigo Tronsco, former DLP Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxine McClean and new president of the Democratic Labour Party, Verla De Peiza.

The conversations centred on agribusiness and technicalcooperation as guests sipped Argentinian wines. (GC)
