Fire destroys two homes, damages a third

Police are investigating a house fire which occurred at 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, at Silver Hill Landing Scheme, Christ Church. Two houses were completely destroyed and a third extensively damaged by radiant heat.

The first house destroyed was an uninsured wooden house owned and occupied by Judy Nurse, 59, and four others, all of whom were at home at the time of the fire.

The second house destroyed was an uninsured wood and wall house owned and occupied by Carolyn Proverbs-Gooding, 31, and three others.

The third house sustained heat damage. It was an uninsured wood and wall house owned by Roger and Linda Barrow of St Peter and occupied by 61-year-old Joan Gittens, and nine others.

Two fire tenders and six personnel from the Barbados Fire Service responded and brought the fire under control at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 21.
