Vendors at Grantley Adams Memorial School were forced to take home some of the food they had prepared for students after the school banned children from purchasing from them.
When a NATION team turned up at the Blackman’s, St Joseph secondary school mid-afternoon on Monday, principal Valdez Francis was standing by the locked gate ensuring students did not leave the premises to go to the vendors outside. The children were also prohibited from going on the pasture to play because they could purchase items through the fence.
Francis remained sitting on a chair by the gate throughout the entire lunch session.
When asked by this newspaper why the decision had been made, he stated: “The vendors call you? Go back to the vendors and let them give you the story. I have nothing to say.” (MB)
