“We acknowledge that the world is changing rapidly for all of us, including our creatives and particularly so in the fine arts arena.  I am a strong advocate for embracing technology and culture, and in looking for new ways to promote the talent within our local creative industry on the world stage,” she said Thursday night at the official opening of the NIFCA Visual And Photography Exhibition billed as Evening of the Arts.

“Daily, technological innovations and the immediacy of the social media networks have certainly already expanded our global reach. The endless possibilities for exposure in virtual galleries for artists and with e-publishing for our authors getting their work to market without the burdensome cost of traditional printing, warehousing and distribution.

“An artist can sit in Barbados and sell in Dubai just as instantaneously from a simple mobile device as he can right here on these shores,” the new CEO told the audience, which included awardees, art aficionados and NCF officers attending the event at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

An event such as Evening of The Arts, she noted, was where the celebration of the arts and creatives starts. (GBM)
