A 16-year-old boy with a desire to win Mr Schoolboy fulfilled his dream and shared top billing at the National Sports Council’s annual physique contests with a girl who has a passion for sports.
Jayde Germain of the Government Industrial School was the class of the six-man Mr Schoolboy field while the versatile Shanice Defreitas brought delight to St George Secondary by capturing the Miss Schoolgirl body fitness crown at the Lester Vaughan Secondary School on Friday.
An audience that includedMr Barbados Martinus Durrant, men’s classic physique champion Hugo Greaves and the first ever (1976) Mr Schoolboy winner Hanif Gooding saw Germain and Defreitas not only win but win emphatically.
From the time Germain pounded the stage and exhibited a front double biceps shot, it was clear he would be the man to beat. He was hard and cut, with muscle everywhere. His sweep of the thighs and the muscle separation in his upper back also stood out. (MK)
