Jameela Hollingsworth is currently in the United Sates participating on the US Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). She is taking part in a three-week project on Women In Entrepreneurship from December 2 to 22.
Hollingsworth is the owner of HR Boss, a Caribbean millennial career consultancy firm, based in Barbados. She founded the company with the mission of helping Caribbean millennials thrive in the region’s changing socio-economic landscape. Through HR Boss, young professionals are exposed to career seminars focused on developing their professional marketability.
During the programme, she and other participants will examine examples of entrepreneurial efforts in the US, particularly those initiated or managed by women; explore the essential role of non-governmental and grassroots organisations in supporting and empowering the development of women-owned businesses; explore the social, economic, and political factors that influence and encourage the development of private enterprise in the US and examine strategies for job creation.
The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the Department of State’s premier professional exchange programme. The programme brings together emerging leaders in their respective professions to learn from how US experts in this profession operate, and to share best practices with the other programme fellows from the same region and across the globe.
