Government will do all in its power to prevent young people from being exploited and getting into a life of crime.
This effort will begin with a review of the National Youth Policy, which is expected to start in January 2019, says Minister of Youth and Community Empowerment Adrian Forde, who made the announcement on Thursday at the launch of the tenth edition of the Caribbean Youth Leaders Retreat at the Barbados Beach Club.
Youth leader Roshanna Trim will lead the committee to review the policy, which Forde said had not been updated since 2011.
“We have to make that policy fit for purpose; there are a lot of changing dynamics since the last youth policy. And it is imperative that we as a Government have a safe and productive environment,” he said. (TG)
