Attorney General Dale Marshall got a first-hand look at two of The City’s so called trouble spots when he toured the Chapman Lane and New Orleans areas this morning.

He was joined by Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith, Deputy Commissioner Erwin Boyce and other top brass of the Royal Barbados Police Force, as well as by Barbados Defence Force (BDF) Chief of Staff Glyne Grannum, Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Lovell and other BDF officers.

“This visit is only to show me the tip of the iceberg and I don’t delude myself into thinking that spending ten minutes with a resident will give me a clear understanding but it certainly helps to point the direction,” Marshall later said.

“And I have assured them that the police are here to serve them and to protect and to get their cooperation,” Attorney General Marshall added.

The Attorney General’s tour came twenty-four hours after he assumed responsibility for the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Preservation of Public Order as well as for the Forensic Sciences Centre, the Criminal Justice Research Unit and the Police Complaints Authority. Those portfolios were taken from Minister of Home Affairs Edmund Hinkson on Thursday night. (HLE)
