The Barbados Revenue Authority has advised business entities, financial institutions and members of the public to be vigilant when receiving and handling cheques.

This warning comes as fraudulent cheques purporting to be from the Authority have been reported.

The Authority also advises that cheques should be cashed at commercial banks, and warns that entities which accept cheques as payment do so at their own risk.

People with any suspicion of false cheques should call the Authority at 535-8200, or email [email protected]. They may also inform the Royal Barbados Police Force. (BGIS)
