The best Gems for World Cup

Share post:

Barbados will be fielding the brightest and best Gems when they head off to the Netball World Cup in Liverpool in July.

That is the word from president of the Barbados Netball Association Nisha Craigwell, who released the list of 20 players sent to the international body. Barbados has to submit the final 12 from that original list by May 25.

“We have retained the majority of the players from the squad which saw Barbados qualifying in last year’s home qualifiers. Captain Rhe-Ann Niles and Sheniqua Thomas have returned from injuries and they provide a boost for our preparations and various options,” Craigwell said.

She also allayed fears about the fitness level of the players.

“Concerns have been swirling about the fitness of our Gems as well as the composition of our training squad, but the work which has been put in by our coaching staff and trainer Desmond Grant will see one of the strongest and fittest Barbados netball teams heading to the World Cup in July,” said Craigwell.
