Three former Barbados national cricketers are among six new coaches set to be appointed by the National Sports Council (NSC) next month.

While acting director of sports at the NSC, Neil Murrell, opted not to reveal the names because the selected coaches have not yet received written correspondence, sources indicate that Dave Marshall, Antonio Mayers, Kurt Wilkinson, Donovan Lovell, Jeremy John and former youth player Jafari Toppin are in line to take up the jobs.

“I can’t confirm the names as yet because these persons have not yet been told. They don’t have official word as yet,” Murrell told the Saturday Sport.

However, he confirmed that the Sports Council would also appoint an additional coach for track and field and two others to cater specifically to football.

Following the dismissal of Milton Small, the death of George Linton and the departure of Jason Smith, the NSC appointed three new coaches in former West Indies opener Sherwin Campbell, Shirley Clarke and Shakera Selman, who still plays for the Windies’ Women’s team.
