Barbados suffered a second straight defeat at the Vitality Netball World Cup 2019 this morning.

Despite goal shooter Shonica Wharton’s 15 goals from 18 attempts, the Bajan Gems were beaten 65-41 by Malawi, in Liverpool, England.

Goal attacks Sheniqua Thomas and Brianna Holder produced 12 from 16 and three from four respectively, while goal shooter Latonia Blackman netted 11 from 13. But it wasn’t enough to stop Malawi from securing a comfortable victory.

Goal Shooter Joyce Mvula had a game high 31 from 33 attempts for Malawi, and Alinafe Kamwala (8/11).

Goal attack Jane Chimalino scored 23 from 25 attempts and was assisted by fellow goal attack Sindi Simtone who had a perfect shooting record of three goals from three attempts.

Quarter scores: (17-9, 18-11, 17-9, 13-12)

After opening their World Cup campaign with a 69-34 victory over Singapore on Friday, Barbados were defeated by New Zealand 78-25 yesterday. (AGB)
