The controversial Blue Horizon Hotel redevelopment at Rockley, Christ Church, is not a done deal.

Senior planning officer in the Prime Minister’s Planning Unit, Paula Smith gave this assurance to hundreds of protesters and other interested parties Thursday night, at the second town hall meeting for the developers and other stakeholders.

Though there as an observer, Smith told irate residents that permission for construction of the hotel on the land side and a beach club on the popular Accra Beach, had not yet been granted by the Town and Country Planning Department.

The senior town planner explained there was a process in which all concerns and objections to the developers’ submissions would have to be reviewed before a final report was submitted to the Prime Minister who is responsible for Town Planning, for a decision.

Residents of the area responded with  thunderous applause and cheers at  this news, though a few people shouting over the din insisted the project was a foregone conclusion. (GC)
