Shaquan Clarke became the latest member of the Capelli Super Cup’s hat-trick club on Wednesday night, when Crane & Equipment Ellerton notched a 4-3 win over Group D rivals Clayton’s Kola Tonic Notre Dame.
Fresh off an 8-1 annihilation of Checker Hall, Ellerton threatened to run away with the game with a three-goal lead within the first half-hour but Dames fought back well in the second half.
In other action at the Wildey Turf, University of the West Indies (UWI) Blackbirds defeated Group C rivals Porey Spring United 4-1 to keep their 100 per cent record. UWI captain Mario Harte opened his account for the tournament with the first goal and also had the final goal of the match.
Clarke headed Ellerton into the lead in the 13th minute from a dangerous corner kick and doubled the advantage 13 minutes later before winger Roshon “Speedy” Gittens added the third in the 28th minute. (NM)
