Shot and killed by man in a hoodie

The island’s latest shooting victim was pronounced dead a few minutes after arriving at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) late last night.

Jamar Omar Haynes alias “Red Dog” of Combermere Street, St Michael, was shot around 9:50 p.m. Saturday while walking along Nelson Street, The City.

According to police, Haynes was heading in a northerly direction when he was approached from behind by a man wearing a dark hoodie. That man opened fire and Haynes was shot several times.

He was taken to the nearby QEH by private vehicle for treatment after several people in the area came to his assistance.

Haynes was originally of Yearwood Road, Sugar Hill, St Joseph.

Police are appealing for anyone with information that can assist with the investigation to call emergency No. 211, Central Police Station 4307676, C.I.D at 4307169, Crime Stoppers 1-800-8477 (TIPS) or any police station. All information will be taken with strict confidentiality. (PR/SAT)
